Week 29 - 5 Days Without Power

We got walloped with a mere 6" of snow on Saturday night, but it was enough to knock out power through out the region.  It took 5 days until power was restored for us.  During that time we spent 2 nights in hotels and slept in a 45 degree house the other nights.  I took photos, of course, but didn't get a chance to post-process until late in the week.  Here's my selection for the week:

Week 28 - Back Bay PhotoWalk

Last weekend Karen and I went on a PhotoWalk tour of the Back Bay.  This was a Christmas gift (actually, a Groupon) - a guided photography tour, 90 minutes, at a particular region of Boston.  It actually was very informative and a lot of fun.  One photo made my photo of the day, and I also included a bonus photo for that day below.  Check out my photo album of the day here: https://picasaweb.google.com/113659247702852198367/BackBayWalk?authkey=Gv1sRgCKzKwqfD8tazGg#

Week 27 - Fall Colors

Fall is in full swing in Massachusetts, at least in the Merrimack Valley.  There's lots of colorful trees, leaves falling, and most importantly, some mostly great weather.  I'm dreading the dark winter soon to come, where I take daily "snow" photos.  I'm already trying to think of ideas for dead of winter photos...

Here's this week's photos, and the week isn't even finished yet.  Yup, I wasn't on Martha's Vineyard this weekend...

Week 26 - First Half/Back to Work

Well, I've got 26 of the 52 weeks completed.  It's a transition week for me - I've started a new and exciting job, one that will leave me even less time to take photos.  Also, the days are much shorter, so less natural light for photos.  For both of these reasons, it's going to be a challenge getting good photos the next 6 months - but I'll try!

Here's this week's crop of photos:

Week 25 - Martha's Vineyard

Got to spend almost a full week on Martha's Vineyard before I start my new job.  The weather was Summer-like - truly amazing.  The fishing was fair, mainly False Albacore, but with such gorgeous weather, it was quite a relaxing week.  I stumble upon famous photographer Alison Shaw during a dawn photo shoot she was doing for a book cover.  Great to finally meet her (she's an extremely nice person) and also great to see her work.

Week 24 - A Vacation of Sunrises and Sunsets

I spent the last week on Martha's Vineyard, on vacation, fishing the Martha's Vineyard Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby pretty hard.  I fished early morning, and in the evening, often napping mid-day.  Now that is what I call a vacation!

Here's my 7 photos of the week - it was tough to choose, as I had many pretty good dawn photos to choose from...

Week 23 - False Albacore Day

Finished up my last week at Progress Software this week - I'm joining VoltDB in two weeks!  So I've got a couple of weeks to relax and, of course, fish the Derby.   This past Saturday was "False Albacore Day" in the Derby where the largest shore, and the largest boat "Albie" each win $500.  My entry is the first photo below, a 10.71 lb fish.

Day 161/September 24 - Albie Day

Day 160/September 23 - Visitor Parking

Day 159/September 22 - Mr. Turkey

Day 158/September 21 - Mr. Big

Day 157/September 21 - 147

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
Day 156/September 19 - Two roads diverged in a yellow wood...
Of course the fork for these two roads takes you to the same place - nature wiped out the shoreline on the left and it is now impassable...

Day 155/September 18 - Dawn from Dyke Bridge
