Week 41 - Superbowl Fever

The week started with the Patriots winning the AFC Championship!  The week ended with us visiting Martha's Vineyard for the MV Surfcasters Banquet.  The Vineyard was like a ghost town, with hardly any restaurants open.  Still it was relaxing and rejuvenating and with sunny days and Spring-like temperatures, plenty of opportunity for photographs (of course I was in a Church basement for all of the afternoon!).

Also, no flower shots this week.  Several of my readers were getting tired of them - so instead, I included a picture of my new generator!  Enjoy...

Week 25 - Martha's Vineyard

Got to spend almost a full week on Martha's Vineyard before I start my new job.  The weather was Summer-like - truly amazing.  The fishing was fair, mainly False Albacore, but with such gorgeous weather, it was quite a relaxing week.  I stumble upon famous photographer Alison Shaw during a dawn photo shoot she was doing for a book cover.  Great to finally meet her (she's an extremely nice person) and also great to see her work.

Week 22 - Derby Week 1

Had fun fishing the first two weekends of the 2011 Martha's Vineyard Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby - and got to see some amazing sunsets and sunrises.  Yeah, the fishing kinda stinks during the day, so I find myself  up all night or out of the house at 6am.

Here's this week's 7 hand-selected photos:

Week 10 - Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket

This week I had the opportunity to spend 3 days on Nantucket, fishing in the Martha's Vineyard Surfcasters vs. Nantucket Anglers Club.  The tournament pairs a MV fisherman with a Nantucket fisherman and you stay at that person's house and fish with that person. Each year the location switches.  This year it was Nantucket. It is the second year I've participated and I've had a great time and made a bunch of new friends.  We lost the cup this year but it didn't matter - it was great fishing, great food, and great fun.

Day 70/June 25 - Miacomet Surfcasters
Just after arriving on Friday, prior to the start of the weekend-long 2011 Nantucket Anglers Club vs. Martha's Vineyard Surfcasters tournament, Peter Sliwkowski, mimicing Nathan Horton of the Bruins, poured "Martha's Vineyard water" into Nantucket Harbor.  Unlike the Bruins, however, we did not win the cup!  Nantucket beat us this year, catching over 30lbs more fish than the Vineyarders.

Day 69/June 24 - Boston Bruins "Good Luck Charm" Fails Vineyard Anglers

Day 68/June 23 - Steamship Mooring Rope
It rained hard all day on June 22nd. While not one of my better photos, I liked how you can see the rain streaks above the  flowers, almost matching the lines of the thin flower stalks.  After seeing these rain streaks when looking at the photo on the computer, I wish I had taken many more shots at varying slow shutter speeds.

Day 67/June 22 - Rain Falls on Lychnis Flowers

Day 66/June 21 - Looking Up
While leaving Martha's Vineyard on the Ferry, I spotted this huge yacht docked near just past The Black Dog restaurant.  There was something about being in the bowels of a big ship peaking out at a luxury yacht that made me choose this shot as my photo of the day.  Incidently, this yacht, a 170+ foot super yacht called "Quantum of Solace", is for sale for $24.5 million.

Day 65/June 20 - Leaving Paradise
While waiting for the Chappaquiddick "On Time" Ferry to return me to Edgartown, I pulled out my wide-angle lens and took this photo.  I'm still learning this lens, and can't wait to try it out on the Gay Head Cliffs later this summer.

Day 64/June 19 - Chappy Point
